Description: | Easdale Island. Argyllshire. Easdale Slate quarry in 'Black Slate Group'. The cleavage dips steeply from left to right, and the bedding is almost indistinguishable (the working faces are mainly cleavage planes, the wrinkling on the latter being due to an incipient strain-slip cleavage). Note the crane and two railway trucks and the access ladder to the working level. The industry in the area started at Easdale Island but the deposits on this island are now worked out. |
