Description: | Pale cream, compact, very fine-grained dolomite with small-scale nodular structure. Composed of small, occasionally rhomboid grains (0.02 - 0.04 mm grain-size) of dolomite, probably coated with some argillaceous matter. The nodular structure is not seen in thin section but there is a weak banding of clearer and more turbid dolomite. The rock is cut by calcite-filled fractures which are faulted by narrow fractures also calcite-filled. Quartz grains, up to 0.5 mm long, are sparsely scattered through the rock. Dolomite, micrograined, uniform granular. SL0221. Britrocks S35075. Magnification x40. Light XPL. |
