Caption: Bilston Burn (No. 3) Limestone, main quarried band. Quarry, Esperston Limeworks, 660 yards north-east of Esperston. Mid Lothian.
Description: Dark grey, fine-grained limestone containing fragments of small shells and polyzoa (outlined by pyrite) and foraminifera. The matrix is of granular calcite, 0.01 to 0.03 mm grain, and the more complete shells are filled with coarser calcite. Limestone, micrograined, microfossiliferous, clastizoichnic. SL0043. Britrocks S34532. Magnification x40. Light PPL.
