Caption: Photo shows two short lengths from BGS short sea-bed core 59-11/12 (59 18.41'N, 10 4.99'W) originally collected from the top of Rosemary Bank seamount for the BGS UK Rockall Consortium in 1994.
Description: The core comprises highly-vesicular ultra-potassic lavas. Five individual flows were penetrated. The upper length (from 2.32 - 2.36 metres below sea bed) shows large, irregular, partially-filled vesicles. The lower length (3.27 - 3.41 metres below sea level) shows flow alignment of vesicles, weathered flow top and overlying carbonate sediment.
