Description: A pale grey, fine-grained, uniform limestone that has weathered to a light brown from the Cameron Burn, Lathockar, two miles north-east of Radernie. BGS Sample SL 40. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number MC 7575. The limestone bed is two feet thick at this location. A chemical analysis of a typical sample from this location is calcium carbonate 52.18 per cent, magnesium carbonate 36.40 per cent and insoluble matter 5.37 per cent. Old workings in the area, both quarries and mines indicate a considerable amount of former workings. The distribution of limestones is affected by faulting and igneous intrusions.
