Description: Westfield Opencast Site, located five miles south-east of Kinross, Fife Region. Working in the Ochil Fault zone looking to the west. A scene of much activity, distributed at several levels are six face-shovel rope excavators, rotary drilling rigs, most in a vertical position and a large number of dump trucks. Maintenance of this equipment follows regular servicing schedules at the plant maintenance department which is divided into three main sections; Field Plant, the excavators; drills and pumps; the Workshops which maintain the mobile equipment and the Electrical Department which deals with the routine maintenance of the electrically powered excavators and other equipment.
