Description: Newtimber Limeworks, Pyecombe. Melbourn Rock, Plenus Marls and Lower Chalk. The Melbourn Rock, which consists of hard, nodular chalk overlies the Plenus Marls - a group of mainly marly chalks - in the upper portion of the face. The lower portion of the face is in thickly-bedded chalk in the upper part of the Lower Chalk.
